So, it doesn't like to start. I have suspicion, and pretty much confirmation, that it's the fuel pump starving the engine out too much for a spark to ignite. That'll be an easy fix, I have the guide and tools for that, just need to order the part. Now, the tricky things are happening elsewhere. The AC needs to be charged in a very serious way, and I have to decide wether to pay Porsche or someone to convert it over to R134, or if I find someone with the less polar bear friendly R12. After that, I discovered that at Highway speeds, my removable roof panel likes to come up at one corner, so I need to poke around and see if that needs a screw, or pin or something. It's definitely a great cruiser, but it will be even better once I get the issues sorted. I just have to keep reminding myself that it's a 30 year old car I'm trying to daily.

What does it sound like when you start it?

"starving the engine out too much" is an unusual way to put it, but in any case, I suggest you try changing the fuel filter filter before changing the pump.

The alternator cranking and the engine trying to fire, then finally starting up. Takes a few tries sometimes.

The pump is also making a loud buzzing, so that's why it's going regardless

you check the DME relay?

I don't know what that is, so no.

when you say taking a few tries, you mean you have to turn the key a few times?

Yes, that.

So have you tried to turning your ignition to the on position to arm the fuel pump back off then to on X repeat a few times and then try to start the car?

I have tried a few different ways, that being one of them

Curious - haven't played with a 944's but wondering at the fuel injection pressure. Did you measure that?
As for AC - prepare for the worst. I've found that if the AC hasn't run in while, the natural lubricating effect on running it on the seals (ort!) screws them up. The "problem" could cascade into all types of components. Don't pay porsche - find an AC house that knows what they are doing.

Oh that sounds exactly what it is.

Ya, very common problem with 944's and similar Porsche's. -Former 944 owner. I never had this issue but trust me I was well aware of it haha. My friend had a 924 and was constantly chasing fuel delivery issues, very different system but similar issues.
Try some of the trouble shooting offered in that post.
